It took me awhile to figure out that this was based on the creepy, weirdo Robert Durst and THE JINX film. Jarecki did a better job with THE JINX in showing the actual people, scenery and characters. Money talks, no doubt about it.

They took much care to construct something according to all that could be known or reasonably surmised. As such, they have created an engrossing dramatic experience that probably comes very close to the truth. However, it put me in mind of what an art teacher once said in a class I attended. Feel free in making your representations, because nature itself allows in its diversity a suspension of disbelief; somewhere in nature there will be just such a leaf. In the extras here you will find pictures and descriptions of Durst; he was no Ryan Gosling, an actor many would forgive themselves for swooning over. The monied world is another place where painting oneself into a corner is not unheard of; and monied people are not the ones crowding our prisons.

Very dark, well acted. Too bad about the loud soundtrack, couldn’t hear dialogue in many scenes.

Great film. Tragic tale.

Honestly I can't believe there are bad reviews, though I understand most audiences are subjected to sensational drama in crime shows & action movies and, therefore, need that shot of adrenaline injected into them. This movie, to me, is quietly, extremely good and intriguing. Lack of explosions and shooting leaves one plenty of room to consider the characters and storyline. Also, the movie is quite sensual...not in a sexual way. Loved it.

I enjoyed this film. It's entertaining and keeps the suspense going throughout.

Like LPL_Sarah, watched this true-crime drama after the excellent "Jinx" documentary. In addition, new development of Robert Durst's case, see Feb 16, 2017 news report in "Summary." What a messed up rich boy gone mad tale. You have to watch the film, the on going news coverage to believe that the writers did not make up those good things gone to hell in a handbasket.

Alternate title: All Things Are Not Good featuring cowards and a twisted clown named Mr. Durst.

“I had to. It was her or me,” Durst said, according to Chavin. “I had no choice.”
