This was a great book! I was assigned to read it for OBOB, and at first, I thought I would hate it. With the big red bridge covered in snow on the cover, I thought it was going to be a realistic fiction or historical fiction book (and I hate realistic fiction a lot). However, once I started reading, I became captivated. I stayed up reading that night until three in the morning, and read it twice! The next day, I was reading it non-stop at school, and read it another two times! This book has become one of my favorite books, and as of right now, I am waiting for the sequel to come in at my local library! The characters are great, and they sort of stick with their characteristics and value (which is good because some authors will say a character acts one way, and then act completely differently). Truly's character really called out to me, because I feel really socially awkward sometimes, and she was basically another, taller version of me! The plot was also really intriguing. I would recommend this book to almost anyone!

A cozy mystery for middle grade with a recipe at the end just as it should have. Truly Lovejoy and her family are transplanted to Pumpkin Falls, New Hampshire, after her dad is injured in Afghanistan. She is the middle of five siblings and has hit her growth spurt before the boys her age -- hitting six feet before she has even turned thirteen.

There are many plot threads that the author ties nicely together: new girl in middle school, big town family transplanted to a small town, struggling bookstore, and more. Plus there is the mystery of the envelope Truly finds in the pages of an autographed edition of Charlotte's Web. Highly recommended!

Fast-paced, character-driven, cozy mystery with a strong sense of place and a large cast of quirky characters. This middle-grade fiction book is a good pick for realistic fiction fans who want to try a mystery, or for mystery lovers who care about the characters and setting more than the crime. Read-alike: Moon Over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool.

Really awesome book for middle school and high school! It was lots of fun to read as you joined in on the mysteries of the letter and the missing book. Pumpkin Falls has more than what meets the eye!
