While exploring the attic in her cottage, Lori Shepherd discovers a gold and silver bracelet inlaid with gleaming garnets, which she quickly learns belonged to Aunt Dimity. The bracelet awakens poignant memories of a doomed romance in Aunt Dimity's past. Regretfully, Aunt Dimity asks Lori to return the bracelet to her unsuccessful suitor or to his rightful heir. A new family has moved to Finch and are avid metal detectorists - who stumbles upon a real treasure - an ancient hoard of priceless gold and silver artifacts. The artifacts look strangely familiar to Lori. She begins to suspect that the villager isn't the only person who's stumbled upon the hoard. Did Aunt Dimity's suitor get there first? As Lori searches for answers, she discovers an unexpected link between the buried treasure in the village and the treasure buried in Aunt Dimity's heart.

This title is 21st in total of 24 titles thru yr 2019.

I enjoyed reading this creative plot, (hobby, curiosity, mystery, discovery, London) and, I wished this title plot had been written and placed as the 4th or 5th title in the entire series.......because..its content is significantly important.
Those villagers ... are sometimes aggravating...sometimes quite endearing. I'm rather fond of Mr. Barlow, sexton handyman of all talent.

I enjoyed the footage pages of Lori going to London several times. Refreshing.

After twenty-one books Nancy Atherton's Aunt Dimity series remains one of my favorites. They are cozy mysteries, frequently without a murder (as is true in this one), and with a touch of the paranormal. What I find most appealing is the frequent setting in a small English village called Finch, and the interactions of the villagers. The residents of Finch all have their flaws and eccentricities resulting in minor blow ups but ultimately their sense of community brings them together.

Totally enjoyed this book. Better than just an English cozy. The characters are really kind to each other without being too sappy. The plot is so interesting with that touch of mystery, I just wanted to keep reading and found it hard to put down.

I love this series, which begins with Aunt Dimity's Death, a 5-star book. It is essential that this series be read in order. If you like pleasant books about lovely characters, with a bit of magic thrown in, this is the series for you. The books are all 4-5 stars.
