After seeing him interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning, I decided to read this one with my afterschoolers. It inspires kids to follow their dreams, keep experimenting, and never give up! My kids also appreciated that he is a "modern day" inventor, not some guy who died hundreds of years ago.

Do you like to take things apart and find out how they work? Maybe you'll be an engineer one day. Meanwhile, read the true story of Lonnie Johnson, the NASA engineer who invented the Super Soaker! What super fun things can you create?

Just in time for summer: Ever wonder who invented the Super Soaker? Now there's a children's book all about him. Check it out, but try to keep it dry.
