The new, eagerly anticipated BATMAN YA novel is an action-packed thrill ride that could only be penned by #1 New York Times bestselling author MARIE LU.

Before he was Batman, he was Bruce Wayne. A reckless boy willing to break the rules for a girl who may be his worst enemy.

The Nightwalkers are terrorizing Gotham City, and Bruce Wayne is next on their list.
The city's elites are being taken out one by one as their mansions' security systems turn against them, trapping them like prey. Meanwhile, Bruce is about to become eighteen and inherit his family's fortune, not to mention the keys to Wayne Industries and all the tech gadgetry that he loves. But on the way home from his birthday party, he makes an impulsive choice and is sentenced to community service at Arkham Asylum, the infamous prison that holds the city's most nefarious criminals.

Madeleine Wallace is a brilliant killer . . . and Bruce's only hope.
The most intriguing inmate in Arkham is Madeleine, a brilliant girl with ties to the Nightwalkers. A girl who will only speak to Bruce. She is the mystery he must unravel, but is he convincing her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees?

In this second DC Icons book--following Leigh Bardugo's Wonder Woman: Warbringer --Bruce Wayne is proof that you don't need superpowers to be a super hero, but can he survive this game of tense intrigue, pulse-pounding action, and masterful deception?

Act fast! The first printing includes a poster of Bruce! Each first printing in the DC Icons series will have a limited-edition poster--collect them all to create the full image!

" The trickiest aspect of any Batman narrative is getting into Bruce Wayne's head, and [Lu] doesn't miss a beat. . . . An engaging character piece with enough Batman allusions to intrigue fans and newcomers alike."
--Kirkus Reviews

" A fast-paced story line , action-packed fight sequences, and hi-tech gadgetry expected from any Batman story make this a fun read with wide appeal ."

After reading the fantastic 'Wonder Woman: Warbringer', I had high hopes for this. But I found Batman's story to be too sanitized, too clean and idealized. Bruce Wayne does not act like Batman at all. He's too nice and not brooding, too trusting and not clever. Madeleine was an interesting character but not logical enough to be realistic. I did like Bruce as a character, but he wasn't Batman. Alfred was amazing but all other character sort of faded into the background. Dianne and Harvey aren't interesting enough for me to even talk about them.
This book didn't delve deep enough into its characters, plot, and, most importantly, Batman. It doesn't stand out. It's just another piece of superhero YA.
'Batman: Nightwalker' was entertaining enough, but it was flawed and too convenient.

I really liked Marie Lu's version of how Bruce Wayne became Batman, but not my favorite. I kinda wished that there was more actual Batman action. ):

While I am more of a Marvel person, these DC-author compilations are quite the read. Batman was a superhero I knew little about, and reading this was a nice take on the "teenage" millionaire who watched over Gotham City. I have always loved Marie Lu's style/writing, and I'm glad to say she did not disappoint here! The plot was written amazingly, with great detailed action sequences and enough comic relief to relieve tension. I would definitely recommend this - to any superhero fan or not. @Siri of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

(Dun uh dun uh dun uh dun uh BATMAAAAAN!!) This was so cool! This book really shows how “good” billionaire Bruce Wayne was in his urge to save Gotham City. Maybe it was his youth, maybe it was his great friends, or maybe it was his parent’s beliefs that pushed him to take action in his “Batmobile”. This book really made Bruce more real, not just some super hero. Ok, AWESOME super hero. Still, I loved Marie Lu’s great depiction of The Great Batman’s past.

This is Batman's story before he became Batman by one of my favorite young adult author's, Marie Lu. Batman: Nightwalker is basically the action-packed origin story of Batman when he was just young Bruce Wayne. I enjoyed reading about Marie Lu's take on what caused Bruce Wayne to create his alter-ego, Batman.

Batman: Nightwalker book was an exciting, action-filled story about the young man who will become Batman, defender of Gotham. This book was a fantastic journey as well because Marie Lu has such an amazing way with words and she makes each page that you read exciting. While I was reading this book I couldn’t put it down because I just needed to know what was going to happen with Bruce, who the culprit behind the murders was and most importantly, what was going to happen with the mysterious Madeleine! I wish it was a little bit longer because I didn't want it to end but it was also perfect as the short novel that it is.
