This book about decadent people holds up 65 years after it was written and seem quite contemporary.

Read this as part of the Book Riot Challenge. For such a compact story, it's a disturbing look into the mind of malice and manipulation. The ending was completely #%!ed up to boot. Fans of Gone Girl and the like would approve.

"A strange melancholy pervades me to which I hesitate to give the grave and beautiful name of sorrow."
Hello sadness! French author Francoise Sagan was only 18 when her debut novel came out and it was something of a sensation, but it's hard now to see what the fuss was all about. It's amusing, but slight. Made into a film by Otto Preminger starring Jean Seberg, David Niven, and Deborah Kerr.

I loved this book! It was very short and took me a day to read. A story about a spoiled 17 year old who wishes to destroy her father's relationship with his fiance for her own selfish reasons. I loved the writing style, considering this was written in 1955.
