In 1944 the Nazi military and scientific departments are researching the occult. Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin builds a dimensional portal off the coast of Scotland, where he intends to use it to bring about the destruction of Earth. In his employ is the ultra-silent assassin Karl Ruprecht Kroenen, who seemingly can't be killed. However, the United States has sent forces of their own to Scotland, along with Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, who is well-versed in terms of magic and sorcery. Fighting breaks out between the Nazi and American soldiers. When the device is damaged, Rasputin's life force is drawn through the portal and he disappears. Bruttenholm saves a mysterious red demon who is given the nickname "Hellboy." Sixty years later, FBI agent John Myers is sent from Quantico to a building in Newark, New Jersey which has been identified as Squeaky Clean Waste Management Services. Hellboy has to defend the city, while trying to protect his friends from each attack. He is eventually pushed over the edge when Rasputin has Kroenen kill Professor Bruttenholm.

As World War II nears its end, the Axis forces quickly realize that defeat is imminent. In a last ditch effort to keep themselves from losing the war, they make use of black magic and summon a demonic creature – Hellboy. However, the Allied forces eventually defeat the Axis forces after invading the Nazi camp. The Allied forces gain hold of Hellboy and he grows up to be the exact opposite of a demon. Rather than indulging in what a demon what normally do, he ends up fighting for good causes. I was quite fascinated by the appearance of Hellboy the first time I saw. In the first installment of Hellboy, a familiar face returns from the past, and it’s up to Hellboy and his comrades to stop him.

One word: amazing!

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

This movie sounds amazing on HOMETHEATER.. Everything from explosions to machineguns will fill your apartment with audio pleasure. The visual effects are equally impressive with unusual looking creatures. I enjoyed watching this movie and you will also. I'm giving this film 5 stars!!! For very cool looking creatures, great sound, great visuals, and a good story. Honey flavored barbequed buffalo wings, corn on the cob, butter, rolls, and sweet potato pie.

This is how Hollywood should convert all comics to movies. It has a great story, fantastic characters and tons of action.

An underrated comic and an underappreciated film. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Hellboy can be very scary if your a kid.
Not recommended for children. As an adult, I really liked this film. Entertaining, Hellboy character is funny with a big heart.
He's adorable in this interesting tale.

[talking to Liz, re: his appearance]

Hellboy: I wish I could do something about this. But I can't. But I can promise you two things. One: I'll always look this good.

[Liz laughs]

Hellboy: Two: I'll never give up on you... ever.

Liz Sherman: I like that.

Hellboy: Good.
