"Sophie Ware (Wendy Crewson, The Many Trial of One Jane Doe, Santa Clause 2), a cynical and world-weary lounge pianist returns to her southern Alberta home for her father's funeral. She inherits the family ranch and, at a crossroad in her own life, decides to stay and try to turn the ranch into a profitable operation. Determined to succeed, Sophie hires handsome Alexander Bresnyachuck (Paul Gross, Men With Brooms, Due South), a high school acquaintance, to help work the ranch. After 15 years working as a transient labourer, Alex is looking for something more permanent.
