"For Alexandria Hyatt having a fabulous life is easy: she knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. Being glamorous and rich is simply what she was born to be. When Alexandria is arrested for shoplifting, having to drag herself into court to face a judge just seems like a major inconvenience. But Alexandria has been in trouble before?and this time she can?t find a way to scheme out of the consequences. Before she knows it, she?s on a plane headed to Kenya where she has been ordered to work for an international charity. Over 7,000 miles away from home with no hot water, no cell phone reception, no friends or family, Alexandria is confronted with a land as unfamiliar as it is unsettling. Over the course of her month in Africa, Alexandria will face a reality she could never have imagined, and will have to look inside herself to see if she has what it takes to confront it." -- Googlebooks.

Alexandria of Africa is truly an amazing book. When I heard that Eric Walters was coming to our school, I went to the library and checked out a couple of Eric Walters books. They were Alexandria of Africa, Stranded, and Camp X. I loved all of them. I think Eric Walters is very talented. These books make you think, they make you learn to respect others. If you liked Alexandria of Africa, you should read stranded. They both give the message that you need to help others.

Not gonna lie, I read the actual book, not thee book but I can't find the actual book on here. Anyways, wow. I heard from friends that Eric Walters is good but I didn't think he was that good! Alexandria was so.. Real. Realistic, shamelessly to say very relatable, so inspiring, and thought-provoking.
As a baby I was also breech- same as Ruth's youngest sister. So that made me think: what if my mom were like Ruth's mom and we lived in a Maasai village in Kenya? I'd probably be dead and that just gets me thinking. I love this book, I stayed up very late last night reading it.. I can't wait to read more of Eric Walter's!

I took out three Eric Walters books at once - Wounded, Alexandria of Africa, and Sketches. They were all amazing! What I really liked about Alexandria of Africa was the messages it gave, such as you don't have to have everything to be happy. I also liked how Alexandria changed throughout the story.

I disagree with Katya; Camp X is Eric Walters best book.
I disagree with Julia; I enjoyed this book and I am not a girl between 11 and 14. I would recommend this book to any teenager (guy or girl) and to girls of all ages.
However, I must agree 100% with the vampire-dude...very steriotypical.

This book was great for me, very realistic and well written. It's one of Eric Walters' better books.
