I was pretty impatient with Opal in the first book but tried this to see if things improve. Nope. Still the same doormat being victimised and duped virtually all the time. No learning curve. And a disturbing Stockholm syndrome trend that I realise features in all the works by this author. Loving the men who abuse you. Wow.

There were a lot of interesting plot elements to this book, but it got to be really difficult to get to them as the main character's insecurity and inexperience took over the enjoyment of the book. Reasing this book is like watching a horror movie and yelling to the blonde, "it's in the closet, it's in the closet!! Look in the damn closet!!"

The amount of times this girl gets into trouble... I sincerely hope the next book is an improvement.

I was excited to read what Snyder came up with next after I loved ther Poison study trilogy but I was disappointed with sea glass.
Ylena as a side (and very un-explored) character was difficult to understand. Honestly, I just didn't like Opal enough to go into her head and world for 200 odd pages. I closed the book after five chapters completely un-satisfied. I think Snyder should start a new series, unrelated and leave well enough alone.
