14,000 bars of gold is about 175 tons. I didn't see enough equipment there to move that much gold. And a box of 10 would be about 250 pounds, not easily lifted (1,400 boxes of 10). A lot of gold to move.

I liked the movie anyway.

The script writer made a wise decision to ignore the origin of the Nazi gold. If I knew that the Nazis stole the gold from the Holocaust victims, it would be harder to celebrate Kelly’s boys using it to buy big cars and lots of broads. Why let history get in the way of a good time?

I wish they would make movies like this again.
Light, funny, successful, great actors and personalities, and NO political message. Just a funny expression of human nature.

I like most of Clint Eastwood's movies. But, this one to me was a disappointment. It had a nice cast. But, I thought the movie went on far too long with its silly plot. The bad part is that this was supposed to be a comedy. But, I didn't find it amusing at all. All in all, I thought this was a mediocre movie.

Older movie, but excellent and timeless. Packed full of actors from the 1960's and 70's. Set in France during WWII, a group of men on a three day leave decide to cross behind enemy lines to rob a bank rumored to contain millions in gold brick. Great performances. Great storyline. Donald Sutherland plays 'Oddball', a tank driver and probably one of the most colorful character of his career. Good war film. A must see.

When this movie came out Telly Savalas was new and fresh, Donald Southerland new and fresh, Clint Eastwood new and fresh, and the world was still inhabited by a high percentage of WWII veterans who'd had enough of the usual WWII shoot'em-up fare.

It's still a good watch with a few chuckles. If people want realism there's plenty of it out there. This one's for the giggles.

I have to say the 40-year old film lacks credibility. As a war/comedy film, it has lots of explosions and localized fight scenes. The start was slow but did pick up later. In my view, Telly Savalas filled the screen far more than Eastwood. It is an OK watch.

One of those unlikely yet believable urban legend in WW II. The 1970 humor was dated but LOL at those men who plotted, fought and won a fierce battle in the course to take care of number one.
