Merida was a very entertaining princess to watch from the normal Disney princess with her more what many would identify as masculine character traits. She's strong-willed and stubborn and a force to reckoned with. Watching her interact with her family members and watching these conflicts was relatable which made me enjoy the story. The action scenes with bears were fun to watch. My favourite characters were Merida's brothers who I felt we didn't see much of. I liked this movie and would recommend it to those who want to watch a Disney princess movie that is very different from the others. @Mr.Balance of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library When Merida sought out help from a witch, she didn’t know it was an ill-fated wish that would turn her mother into a bear. With her mother, Merida must learn the true meaning of bravery to undo the horrible curse before her mom stays like that forever. I love how Merida is independent. She does not want to rely on a prince to come and sweep her away. While watching the movie I noticed Merida’s bond with her mother was just like my mom and I, which I thought was pretty cute and funny. This movie is perfect for a cozy family night! @grumpykat of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library I wasn’t a big fan of Disney’s Brave. Merida didn’t win me over, and I found her to be reckless at times. I liked how she was strong, and didn’t care to be married off like some trophy, but I didn’t like how she wished for her mother to change, which in turn transformed Elinor into a bear. By the end, Merida works things out, and her and her mother make up; however, I definitely feel that she could have handled it better. Overall, I think that this movie is worth a watch, but it definitely isn’t my favourite film. The storyline is unique and interesting, but the characters aren’t super likeable, in my opinion. 2.5/5 -@PenelopeScriptor of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
