Freedom Writers for elementary. Each child shares a piece of what's going on in their life or school. It is easy to track who's who. The pictures at the top and the variety is a good choice to add distinction. You read it and you're not sure if you should root for the school to be replaced or not. Good variety with the types of poems and excellent explanation in the back of the styles. When I got to page 60 and realized it was only the "first quarter" of school, I stopped. I literally went thru the same thing, where they ripped down the school and we were bused elsewhere. It wasn't a big deal for the kids, they just were going to different place. Teachers did because that was their job and they were worried for their students. Parents cared because they now had to find either a new school or else accept the alternate with transportation issues. Zero kids cared then and I can't see this being a worry today. If this book is for kids, I dont see the appeal. DNF
