A sweeping tale set during a tumultuous era of Russian and European history all seen through the eyes of Bronislava Ninjinska, the younger sister of famous ballet dancer Vaslav Ninjinsky. Talented in her own right as both a ballet dancer and choreographer, this novel looks at the dreams, struggles, hopes and realities of ballet dancers during this time period through Bronia's experiences. Stachniack again proves her prowess as a historical fiction writer, giving the reader a well researched time period that brings to life the dangerous and unstable political, social and economic climate during the Bolshevik revolution, the first world war, its aftermath and the cusp of the second world war. An enjoyable read for historical fiction fans who enjoy this time period as well as those who have an interest in ballet or Russian history.
